HiPP vs. Holle: What’s the Difference Between the Two Formulas
There’s a plethora of different baby formulas on the market, and it’s only fair to say that it can be hard to know what you should be looking for in your formula. We’re the favorite provider of HiPP and Holle European baby formulas for many families, and we want you to know what’s best for your little one. With the many different HiPP and Holle formulas available on the market, it can be overwhelming trying to pick the perfect one. While all of the HiPP and Holle formulas that we offer are premium quality, each one is different. Here’s just a few of the differences between these two brands:
They’re Both Reputable Companies
Both Holle and HiPP have been creating baby formula for a long time, so you know they’re experts in what they do. HiPP was founded in Germany in 1899, and Holle began in Switzerland in the 1930s. Both brands have refined their expertise over the years to produce their safe, simple, and nutritionally-complete formulas.
HiPP and Holle are both approved and certified organic by the European Commission, the equivalent of the United States’ FDA. The European Commission has stricter regulations than its American counterpart, which means that baby formulas are much more safe in Europe.
All HiPP and Holle formulas abide by these strict standards, but each formula has a unique set of ingredients. And while it can be overwhelming to make sense of the many different ingredients in different infant formulas, this is an important step in choosing the best formula for your little one.
Macronutrients: The Differences for Both Brands
Carbohydrates are one of the most important factors in an infant formula. Lactose is the main carbohydrate found in breast milk, and it is the best option for sugar in baby formula. To find out what you should be searching for in your baby formula, check out our blog here!
Holle Bio Stage PRE is an entirely lactose-based formula, while the Goat formulas (Stage 1 and 2) and Holle Bio (Stage 1 and 2) use both lactose and maltodextrin as carbohydrates.
All HiPP baby formulas are entirely lactose-based, except for HiPP Anti-Reflux formula, which also contains maltodextrin. Maltodextrin can help with digestion for babies with sensitive stomachs.
Protein
This is one of the most essential elements of a baby’s diet. Breast milk contains less casein proteins and more whey proteins, while cow's milk consists of the reverse. Casein proteins can be more difficult for babies to digest, which is why it's important to look for a formula with whey.
All Holle baby formulas have added whey to bring the protein ratio to a healthy balance for babies. If your baby is sensitive to cow’s milk, try Holle’s Goat Milk formulas.
Like Holle, most HiPP formulas have added whey protein. HiPP also offers a 100% Whey formula.
So What’s the Verdict?
Compared to the United States, Europe’s regulations for what is organic are much safer. Both HiPP and Holle are EU certified organic brands, except for select HiPP formulas. At Yummy Ganics, we can help you decide what’s the best option for you and your baby.
As you can see, both HiPP and Holle brands have many different options for your baby. Both brands are specifically formulated to be as similar to breast milk as possible so you can provide the very best nutrition for your baby.
